In its Long Term Plan, NHS England has committed funding for 1,000 social prescribing Link Workers to be in place by 2020/21.
In addition, social prescribing services are funded by local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and/or Local Authorities, with additional support also coming via trusts and foundations.
NHS England's ambition is that 900,000 people will benefit from social prescribing by 2023/24.
Integrated Care Partnerships have been set-up to build stronger partnerships between the NHS, local authorities and the VCSE sector, with the aim of supporting a wider social prescribing model across sectors.

Alongside the work carried out by NHS England and Primary Care Networks (PCNs), VCSE organisations provide vital care and ‘more than medicine’ support, with little funding.
