As well as helping others, volunteering can improve your own mental and physical health.

Volunteering can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide you with a sense of purpose.

How can I volunteer?

There are lots of different ways you can donate your time and skills. Here are just a few places to start:

Volunteer Centres

Volunteer Centres can be found in most London boroughs and are specialists in volunteering. As well as providing advice to local charities and voluntary groups, they can help you find the right volunteer role for you.

Team London

Team London - the Mayor’s volunteering programme - champions volunteering across London’s communities and voluntary sectors. You can sign up as a volunteer, or get support as an organisation.

NHS Volunteer Responders

There are a number of roles to help those needing support during the current COVID-19 pandemic, such as collecting prescriptions and telephone ‘Check-in and Chat’.

Mutual Aid

Hyper-local volunteer groups listing who have been particularly active during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can find groups in your local area usually on social networks, and offer your support.

"Volunteering can improve your wellbeing - whether it’s boosting your confidence, being more active, making new friends, or having a sense of purpose from helping others."
